BIO
From the early 2000s until 2014, Mathieu Boudreau worked as a director with Télé-Québec. During this period, he directed several public affairs television magazines (Méchant Contraste, Les Francs Tireurs, Kilomètre Zéro) that left a strong mark on Quebec’s television landscape at the time. In parallel, he helped found the Gaspé-based short film distribution organization Kino 132. He directed several short documentary and fiction films, including Broadcast (2009), Crossing (2010), and Le camping à Jerry. With the launch of La Fabrique Culturelle in 2012, and feeling the need for new professional and personal challenges, he set out on a sailing journey in an attempt to complete a half circumnavigation of the globe, followed by six months living and traveling throughout Asia. Upon his return, he founded Phi Productions. Since then, Mathieu has produced and directed numerous television, video, and film projects, including the documentary series Le monde d’icitte and Curiosités, as well as the mid-length documentary films La danse du Caribou and Territoire en transformations. His short documentary Chasser le naturel was selected for the official selection at the Planet in Focus International Film Festival in Toronto and Cinema on the Bayou in Lafayette. He is currently working as a director and producer on four film projects: L’échelle de Bortle (short fiction–horror film), Césure (mid-length documentary), and Parhélie (short fiction film).
