BIO

Originally from the French Alps, Julie Lacroix holds degrees in product design (France) and textile design (Montreal). In 2014, she founded the association Tissons des liens autour du monde (Weaving Connections Around the World) with the aim of meeting textile artisans in the countries she visited, from New Zealand to Southeast Asia. Following this experience, she continued her apprenticeship in textile skills in Montreal. Knitting, weaving, and embroidery became tools for experimentation throughout her training at the Centre des textiles contemporains de Montréal (CTCM). Finalist for the François Houdé Prize (2022) and winner of the Télé Québec Emerging Artist Award in Gaspésie (2024), Julie Lacroix completed a research and creation residency at the Maison des métiers d'arts de Québec (2024), where she continues her exploration of knitting. Now based in Haute Gaspésie, she wishes to share her knowledge and perpetuate textile skills.
