Haute-Gaspésie

The MRC of La Haute-Gaspésie brings together eight municipalities: La Marte, Marsoui, Rivière-à-Claude, Mont-St-Pierre, Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis, and Sainte-Madeleine-de-la rivière Madeleine. Two cities, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and Cap-Chat and one unorganized territory.

It is bordered to the West by the MRC of Matane, to the East by the MRC of La Côte-de-Gaspé and to the South by the MRC of Bonaventure. The MRC de La Haute-Gaspésie extends over nearly 138 kilometres and covers a large territory of 5,126.8 km2, of which more than 3,600 km2 is in the unorganized territory.

It is located at the northern entrance to the Gaspe Peninsula and is the gateway to the magnificent Gaspésie National Park, which stands up with more than 25 peaks of more 1000 meters high, and an invaluable arctic-alpine flora.

It is the home of the famous Chic-Chocs mountains and of the only caribou colony South of the St. Lawrence.
