Bonaventure

Located in the heart of Chaleur Bay, the Bonaventure MRC includes ten municipalities, three towns and one unorganized territory. It brings together the municipalities of Cascapédia–Saint-Jules, Caplan, Saint-Alphonse, Saint-Siméon, Saint-Elzéar, New Carlisle, Hope, Hope Town, Saint-Godefroi and Shigawake, as well as the towns of New Richmond, Bonaventure and Paspébiac.

It is bordered to the west by the MRC Avignon, to the east by the MRC Rocher Percé and to the north by the MRC de la Haute Gaspésie. It extends over 4,456.57 square kilometers.

Its coastline along the Chaleur Bay features majestic cliffs and various pebbles and red sandy beaches.

Inland, one can find big forests and rivers, like the Bonaventure River, recognized worldwide as one of the most crystal clear, and rugged peaks home to the Pin Rouge ski centre which has the 3rd longest slope in Quebec (3.5 km).

Last but not least, the Paspébiac National Historic Site, is with its 11 historic buildings, including the LeBoutillier Warehouse, one of the largest fishing buildings ever built in America. This five-story building stands out at the heart of a unique heritage site and is classified by both Quebec and Canada.
